Banana Seat is a 10-piece band hailing from the Norman/Oklahoma City area. Banana Seat was formed in 1996 to pay ultimate tribute to the greatest artists and songs of the 1970s and 80s. Their accurate renderings of difficult-to-cover bands such as Earth, Wind, and Fire, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Chicago, and Steely Dan have earned them recognition as one of the top musical acts in the Southwest Region.
While their roots were formed in the great music of the 70s and 80s, Banana Seat is expanding their repertoire to include hits from modern artists like Corinne Bailey Rae, Cee Lo Green, and Amy Winehouse. The band displays an impressively diverse repertoire, covering everything from Pat Benetar and the Eagles to Bobby Caldwell and Sister Sledge. Their grand instrumentation, including a four-piece horn section and rich, complex vocal arrangements, ensures that each number is given the attention to detail it deserves.
Banana Seat does not incorporate any artificial technologies or devices such as pitch enhancers or overdubbing - what you see is what you get. The resulting sound is authentic, soulful, and most importantly, big!
The band has performed for myriad high-profile clients including the NCAA & Big XII Conference, Merrill Lynch, Frontier City theme park and Dr. Pepper. In addition, they have opened for national acts Men at Work and Rick Springfield as well as many others.
This is a very versatile group which really has no limitations. Their act appeals to a wide range of music lovers of all ages - perfect for weddings, reunions, corporate events and much more. In summary, they are the ultimate party band!
